Are the Virtual Medical Scribes HIPAA compliant?

We make sure that all Medical Scribes are fully-equipped, trained, and HIPAA-compliant. They will all sign a Business Associate Agreement (hyperlink to BAA) to assure their compliance. A periodic refresher training is also in place to emphasize the importance of HIPAA compliance. How am I protected against data leak in the Philippines?
Similar to HIPAA in the United States, The Philippine government has passed legislation that prosecutes individuals who compromise sensitive information, such as PHI. This is called the Data Privacy Act of 2012. All of our Live Medical Scribes have been screened, informed, and they hold HIPAA certificates of training for them to be aware of this law. We have copies of their photo ID, address, etc available to you. We also recommend that you have the scribe sign a Business Associate Agreement just as you would any other contractor that may have access to PHI (protected health information).
Can I switch scribes if I feel that we don’t fit to work together?
Yes, you can switch scribes anytime. There are no contracts that will bind you to the scribes. Let us know what you need so we can get you connected with a scribe that will meet your office needs.
What training do the Virtual Medical Scribes receive?
Many of our scribes are RNs and all have a medical training background. In addition, they have undergone a minimum of 2 weeks training that involves HIPAA, SOAP charting, medical terminologies, etc.
How to cancel the service?
In the event that you want to cancel your subscription to VitalScribe, please contact us and we will assist you with the process. Don’t worry, there are no contracts and you can cancel anytime.
Do I set our schedule?
Yes, you may set your own schedule with your scribe. Their work hours will be monitored using a time tracking system and will only record hours that are productive. This does not include breaks.
